Whats the difference in an HTC Dash and a Windows Dash?

I'm looking to buy a T-Mobile Dash and I noticed something. I'm not some computer genius so bear with me. I am buying one on Ebay and the backs of two T-Mobile Dashes were different. One had HTC with some kind of symbol and the other had the Windows symbol. Why is this?

The T-Mobile Dash is the Windows Dash. Windows Mobile Standard is the operating system software that runs on the phone. Heres is some info on it http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1041

http://www.htc.com/us/product.aspx?id=20778 here it is on the HTC website unbranded and unlocked with the signal bands 850/900/1800/1900Mhz GSM/GPRS/EDGE Networks

This is the exact same phone as the T-Mobile dash except it is a quad band phone so it can be used over seas outside the USA. In the US you may find that the older dash is a tri band phone which is no good outside the USA if the 3 bands are USA only. Of course if you don't travel outside the USA then it doesn't matter to you.

T-Mobile is one of the last carriers without broadband data in the USA so keep in mind that if you buy that old dash that you are stuck with dial up slow internet speeds. This may make no difference to you if you do not care about internet, mapping or streaming music and video and also if there is no T-Mobile 3G in your area anyway. The tMobile 3G broadband operates on the signals 700mhz and 2100mhz and is newly bought by tMobile and is not exactly ready for subscribers yet..

If you are a new Tmobile customer or are up for renewal you can get a brand new discounted Dash from Tmobile for 50 bucks with a 2 years contract http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Cell-Phone-Detail.aspx?cell-phone=T-Mobile-Dash-Black

T-Mobile is going to start setting up high speed data and the new dash is able to use the high speed data http://www.wmexperts.com/t-mobile-officially-announces-dash-3g

No matter what you choose just keep in mind that when buying a phone for tmobile that it needs to have the bands 850/1800/1900Mhz GSM/GPRS/EDGE at least. The only way you can go wrong is by buying an unbranded GSM phone and realize that it is a dual or tri band phone and doesn't have those 850/1800/1900Mhz GSM/GPRS/EDGE signals at least.

P.S. The dash is an excellent device if you dont mind T-Mobiles slow data and the lack of a touch screen. Otherwise its great.
