I just downloaded a Droid update on my Evo and now i have little numbers in parenthesis next to each text conversation. What does that number mean? I would assume that's the # of text messages between me and each particular person but the #s aren't really what i would think they would be.

Assuming you mean the 2.2 update, you are in fact correct. The number in parenthesis is the total number of unique texts between you and the individual (both incoming and outgoing).
