If you have a cord, you can download the program from bitpim.org. It may or may not download your texts for you. Good luck!

To make sure you get them and can restore them get a program called pimbackup .It backs them up to the memory card .It will save it to a file called a .pib file on the card .Now to make sure it gets them you can email it or use the cord and activesync or send it with bluetooth or get a card reader for the computer .When you get it on the computer save one copy of it . Change the copy from a .pib file to a .zip file extract the files from it and open them .
One of them will be your text message files. When you find it if it has all of your messages then you know you have them .Do the hard reset install pimbackup select restore direct it to the file and it will install them back on the phone. It also backs up contacts call logs and a few other things.I leave pimbackup on my memory card with the backup file. Each backup you do has a different number so you dont have to worry about it writing over the existing one If you back up a lot you will have to delete the older files sooner or later because it keeps adding a new one every time.It is also free .
