Okay so i have a HTC incredible, and i was wondering if you watched youtube videos on your phone, is it going to cost money to watch them?

Nope. Your parents lied. Watching YouTube just uses your bandwidth. However, smartphones on Verizon automatically come with unlimited bandwidth. So you're fine.

if your phone is not bandwidth restricted, then it is almost free, else it will cost plenty.
