I have a rom i want to flash on my hTc Eris but i can not control the recovery screen because my trackball is broken. Is there any way to scroll around in recovery mode without a trackball

You can usually scroll up and down by using the volume keys. And if you didn't know that, then you do not know nearly enough about phones to be doing things like rooting and ROMs..
